Unit – 2 - WORK STUDY, METHOD STUDY AND WORK MEASUREMENT

1.     What are the methods of increasing Productivity?

·       By improving working conditions

·       By improving working methods

·       By reducing non productive time.

 

2.     Define Method study

The systematic recording & critical examination of existing & proposed ways of   doing work

3.     Name the allowance which is not used for calculating standard time.

·       Policy allowance is not used for calculating standard time

·       This allowance is given to increase the worker earnings

4.     Define Empoyee Rating factor.

Rating facor is the assesment of the rate of working operator by the work study man. the work study man apply this rating based on his idea of standard performance.

5.     Define Productivity

The ratio of output produced (finished producr) to the input resources (raw material)  is called productivity

6.     What is PMTS?

PMTS means Pre determined Motion Time System, used to build up standard time for manual work.

7.     Explain briefly about string diagram.

string diagram is used to find out the total movement of a worker from one work center to other

 

8.     Describe the procedure in making a time study.

·       Select the work

·       Obtain and record all the information about the job, the operator and the working conditions

·       Breaking down the operation into elements

·       Measure the time by means of a stop watch taken by the operator

The extra time added to the basic time to compensate the work interruption, this extra time given to adjust the work interruption is called allowances

12. Define Productivity and Standard of living.

The ratio of output produced (finished producr) to the input resources (raw material)  is called productivity

The extent to which a man is able to spend for living a comfortable life with his family is called standard of living

 

13. What is meant by policy allowance?

• Policy allowance is fixed by the management
• Policy allowance is not used for calculating standard time
• This allowance is given to increase the worker earnings

 

14. State the objectives of Method study.

• To improve the manufacturing process & procedures
• To improve working conditions
