NOTE
: 1. The highlighted Questions are asked more than two times in the Board Exam
2. These Questions are collected from
Board Examination Question Papers.
1. State the principle of transmissibility of
forces.
If a force acting
at a point on a rigid body is dhifted to any other point which is on the line
of action of the force, the external effect of the force on the body remains
unchanged.
2. Define limiting forces.
The maximum value
of friction force, which acts on the body when the body just begins to slide
over the surface of the other body is called limiting force
3. State parallelogram law of forces.
If two forces
acting at a point, represented by the two adjacent sides of a parallelogram, then
the diagonal of the parallelogram gives the resultant of the two forces both in
magnitude and direction
4. State Varignon’s theorem.
The moment of a
force about any point is equal to the algebraic sum of the moments of its components
about that point
5. Write down the conditions of equilibrium.
The algebraic sum of the
·
Magnitudes
of horizontal components of all the forces acting on the body is zero Fx = 0
·
Magnitudes
of Vertical components of all the forces acting on the body is zero Fx = 0
·
Magnitudes
of moments of all the forces about any point is zero M=0
